SOUL POWER

While in NY Meltwater's good friend DJ Slimfass told me about a new documentary called Soul Power about the concert that was put on for the Rumble in the Jungle when Ali boxed Foreman in 1974 in Zaire. Firsthand unseen footage of a truly amazing musical event at a great time in history. I was told it was one of the greatest movies of all time, and I'm inclined to believe it....
"In 1974, the most celebrated American R&B acts of the time came together with the most renowned musical groups in Southern Africa for a 12-hour, three-night long concert held in Kinshasa, Zaire...this music festival became a reality when they convinced boxing promoter Don King to combine the event with "The Rumble in the Jungle," the epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman..."
How this film could be anything but epic I do not know. It's currently only playing in New York and Cali so if you can see it I would definitely say you won't be sorry. Sadly it doesn't seem to be scheduled to play in Philly (wack) but Voorhees, NJ and Pittsburgh are scheduled so road trip it is. Watch the trailer here and see for yourself....

EDIT: SOUL POWER WILL PLAY THE RITZ PHILLY IN OLD CITY AT THE END OF THE MONTH!!!!
